  • Wow! this is a 78 RPM, what needles are you using?

  • Nothing but a good old BSR sapphire stylus - still in its original cartridge. No problems getting new ones - a firm called StylusPlus in the UK has virtually every 'grooverider' ever made, and they're nice and cheap!

  • I always loved this song. I didn't know they were still making 78 records in 1957, I thought they died out way before that. I'm glad to see LP's are making a comeback, but 78's are probably gone forever.

  • I'm not sure when 78's fazed out in the States, but in the UK they lasted right to the end of 1959, most of which are worth loads more than the 45rpm release

  • this is the way I remember it sounding as a little kid - before the media mixers got ahold of it & put out some absolutely awful digital version - this tune is way too pretty to modify !

  • i love this song !!

  • Jimmy Rodgers--one of my first loves--his voice--his looks fantastic !! good memories.

  • won't comment more than: Thank you for sharing.

  • Ah I just love that song and what a beautiful way to share it with us. I am 38 and exsposed my husband to this tonight. Thank you for the gift.

  • still sounds good

  • I recall 78's. Born in early '54 and one of my first memories centers around one- We were at aplace called "Bargain Barn' in Indianapolis- it must've been about 57-

We bought a 78 record there and Dad was carrying me and I was carrying the record- I dropped it and it broke a part of the side- They were brittle and broke easily-

I was disappointed- I think it was a Gene Autry or Roy Rodgers cowboy song- but we took the record home and played it from the broken off part to the end

  • About the comments about when they stopped making 78's, they still made them in the mid 60's in countries like India & Argentina. In fact I saw a video right here on Youtube of a 78 of the Beatles 1965 single "Help/I'm Down".
