In a few years time Denmark is going to choose a new fighter. We have SAAB JAS-39NG, F-18 E/F, F-35 JSF in the contest. Recently it was decided that also EF Typhoon should be among the contesters. Eventhough I am a fan of SAAB, I really hope we will by the Typhoon. For me it is the most capable aircraft (And after all we actually had a danish testpilot, Chris Worning on the german EF program in Mancing). Greetings from Copenhagen.

@lanunselat Yeah - thanks for the neat and tidy explanation as to why the military suffers every time inept government tries to dig itself out of the hole it continually digs for itself. If only all the money spent on Healthcare and Education actually improved either service. It seems that nowadays everyone wants & expects the slowly shrinking working population to kep funding ever increasing government spending - especially on those that opt not to work. Great system isn't it?

@tomburley funding is easy back during the cold war. Pilots fly more often and scrambled more often since soviets regualrly send it's bombers over north sea. Today, there's cut back everywhere to save cost and since education and healthcare are vote winning tools but not defence, so we see the military bore the brunt of the cutbacks.

So relieved to see that they are all wearing the latest in Health & Safety reflective work vests....but where are the traffic cones and divertionwarning signs....and the "loud noise" warnings......the DOT will be citing them for that.
-
@nolifemerc They're probably the latest M.O.D. notes on cost savings and recommendations on how to scramble fuel efficiently with minimum ware and tear on the aircraft!!!
-
@lanunselat So does that mean that the RAF need not train and prepare o the same level then? The reason that the scramble was effective back then is because the attitude was "Live drill" not "Do a scramble but don't take it seriously becase the former potential enemy is busy doing airshows"!!
-
@tomburley because the sovs are really flying back then. today, the sovs are mostly doing airshow.

@townclose what papers are those, instructions, stik back nose up stick forward nose.....

The Fod' ers at play.
I saw this back in 2007, still makes me laugh how the pilot drops his papers at 0.12 seconds. You can hear his co-workers laugh.

From the amount of cuts and different camera angles in this video, I'm guessing it isn't real...nice to know the lads are literally ready to drop everything in that situation though!
