This old Linotype typesetting machine is in one of the old buildings in Pioneer Park in Ferndale, Washington. Only one other machine of the same model exists. I think the girl working in the building thought I was weird for being so completely freaked out about the machine.

  • Those magazines that held all that brass type weighed 50 pounds or more, changing a font was a big deal, and sometimes the hot lead would shoot out splattering the operator. Ouch!

  • We have one the same at Gulgong Pioneers Museum in Australia, Model 15

    ours has the earlier knife block and inside galley, Larry Raid has one of these.
