The iotaCenter is proud to announce its latest release in the Kinetica Video Library series - the first in a series of selected works by pioneering artist and animator Jules Engel.
This first volume of Engels animation work offers a selection of fifteen films ranging from one of his earliest experimental works (Carnival, 1963) to one of his last (The Toy Shop, 1998). Arranged chronologically, the collection offers one view of the artists progression over almost four decades.
The Documentary: Jules Engel: An Artist for all Seasons
As a special bonus feature on this DVD, the iotaCenter has included a six-minute excerpt from the forthcoming documentary Jules Engel: An Artist for all Seasons. The film is a product of Dr. Dills many years of research and writing, which is culminated in The Jules Engel Biographical Project. This project frames Engels work within the critical histories of art, cinema, and experimental animation. More information can be found at http://www.julesengel.com
