During the nineties a group of us involved with Brooklands Museum, made several trips to Hunting Cargo Airlines, firstly to work out if we could dismantle and transport by road a Vickers Vanguard. Once it was decide it was possible to fly the aircraft in to Brooklands we returned to discus that.

The last trip was to look at the Flight Simulator to see if it was practical to dismantle it and move it to Brooklands. Letting us lose on their Simulator was probably not the best thing to do, but we did enjoyed ourselves immensely.

  • Went to visit Brooklands in Nov 2011

The old vanguard nose section in the weeds near G-APEP could surely be made into

an Vanguard exhibit or be integrated into a Restaurant at Brooklands or even a playground feature for kids to sit in. Seems like a crying shame. Was this part of a Vanguard simulator.

I used to handle new Air Canada Vanguards back in 1968 lovely airplanes

  • We moved it just two days ago and it is now next to its sister. It was never a stimulator, but the front section of an aircraft we rescued when the aircraft was cut up for scrap. You can see more about in the pictures section at the Brooklands Engineering and Salvage Team website at vvvvvv breastjobs, net (you will have to manually key the link in as U-TUB don't allow it proper links).

  • Is there a way you can put all you excellent Vickers Vanguard clips into one Video Clip please?

    Thanks Davy

  • @davybranson Nice Idea but sorry to say the answer is no, as the video would be too long for You Tube

    .

You can however, select my playlist called 'Brooklands Videos - Older Clips', to run all the old Brooklands Clips on after the other.

so Glad she,s being taken care of. Also glad That Brooklands has the real deal Vv

Vanguard as well even though she does need a good polish up.

If I lived close enough I'd Volunteer.

    Thanks again.

  • Cant understand why the outside aircraft at Brooklands except concorde look so shabby

seems like volunteers could be rounded up to do some landscaping and cleaning

it is not a free museum so there should be some money allocated to that

  • xD .hahaha good times it seemed man ... I really enjoyed that.

  • Wow how lucky is that to fly the Vanguard simulator; what became of it?
