Gambit was a television game show, created by Wayne Cruseturner[1] and produced by Heatter-Quigley Productions, that aired on CBS from September 4, 1972 to December 10, 1976.

A slightly retooled version, Las Vegas Gambit, aired on NBC from October 27, 1980 to November 27, 1981, originating from the Tropicana Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Both versions of the show were hosted by Wink Martindale, and announced by Kenny Williams. Elaine Stewart was the card dealer for the CBS version. On the Las Vegas Gambit version, the card dealer was Beverly Malden; she left half-way through the series' run and was replaced by Lee Menning.

  • I would LOOOVE to have a deck of those cards.

  • I've a faint memory of watching "Gambit" as a kid. This episode reminded me of something I never understood about the show back then. Notice how you never see a wide shot of the entire set? You see mid-range shots of Wink's podium, the Gambit board and the players' area individually, but never the whole thing. I see now that it was a subtle but effective staging technique to make the set look bigger than it really was, but when I was 7 I never got where everything was or how it fit together.

  • BAM! 21 right off the bat!

  • There was also a British version of Gambit that ran from 1975 until 1985 that was made by Anglia Television which was originally hosted by Fred Dinenage then Tom O Connor hosted the last couple of series, Michelle Lambourne was the card dealer, the programme used the same style of playing cards as the US version of the show.

  • Dig that quintessential 70's blazer on the Winker.

  • @JayBBluejay Are they on a website or is it a private sale?

  • @zachhoran AWWWWW..! I didnt' hear about it until just now!

    Thank you for posting...

  • @blackonyx2002 Good news. A man in Denmark is selling the cards. They are from 1975 and in mint condition. The bad news, they are 160 Euros, which in US currency is between $200-$250.

  • @secondchance1977 Actually The UCLA Film and Television Archives has some episodes of "Baffle" on file (as well as about five episodes of "Gambit").

  • RIP Elaine Stewart

  • Well, as it turns out she was more than just the "dealer of the cards" but was the boss's wife.

  • ELaine Stewart died today at age 81, as per the Hollywood Reported.
