  • I really like the speaker/microphone arrangement, that's a really interesting feature, but in my opinion that's one of the machine's only saving graces, can you use an AC Adaptor with the unit? What size and how many batteries does it use?

  • @Lachlant1984 Only batteries, and it uses 2 C batteries.

  • it looks as if to be a 33 rpm reel to reel, meaning the take up reel gose 33 rpm. knowing that my transicorder is a 33 rpm recorder and it is like your arvin, you could try recording on the arvin and playback on thi mayfair. try it, and tell me if it works.

  • @thereelmaster Do you think in that case they were designed to run on models that could also play records, using the take-up drive?

  • Looks like a hunk of junk.

Have you come across any Bradfords of W T GRANT dept stores?

  • @umajunkcollector I have not. But I have seen a Bradford brand cassette recorder many times on eBay. (the same one, no one buys it)

  • I just got a tape recorder that looks and sounds exactly like this, but the box and deck both say "Raleigh" on them. Were there different stores that sold the same product, such as with the Atari 2600 and Sears Telegames systems?

  • I love the case design, but the machine really sounds about as expected - bad, like the Minys. These rim drive machines just didn't have decent amplifiers. The case appears green on the video but you say it is gray? Too bad, I like the light green!

Don't bother trying to record music with any of these rim drive units. The transports can't handle it and the amps distort, they can't manage the complexity of the sound. They can hardly manage voice!

  • and people, dont hate on this reel to reel. it seems to,even for a rim drive macine, good speed, the amp can be fixed if cassette master wants to fix it. i like it.

  • @CassetteMaster i dont think so. the direction is opposit from a record player. but mabee on a back-running reel to reel.im recording right now, and heres how:i have a 3" reel taped on my record player, and there is a flip in the tape so that it is ocside in. and the tape is running trogh my sanyo (not accros the cappstan) and it is recording rim drive 33 rpm, for the tranicorder (i think it's bias ossalator is going for record, but it plays fine).

  • yes does does sound bad
