Just a small look at this new PMR, comes with nicads and a charger for around 90euro. You can make a modification for 4watts, semi duplex operation and also LPD. Roger Bleep, Adjustable Squelch, scrambler when modified and Generally a radio with a superb receive and tx in export or normal mode. S-Meter and last night heard one of these fitted with an sma antenna and a Sadelta ME3 Mike and small Kolinear. Working the same as the 4w CB and antenna. Excellent Indeed.

  • anyone know what the tiny switch under the far right battery marked "al ni" is for ?

  • @robblac NI is for Nicads and AL is for Alkaline Batteries

  • We bought 2 of these, modded to 4 watt and upgraded the antenna. ( by the shop we bought them in, correct mod and antenna)

Nice clear sound, stacks of channels and features, but guess what ! my old binatones from argos match and more often better the range , and are smaller, lighter and the batteries last 4 times as long, and came with a dual charging caddy,

    So much for expert opinions

  • @dazzymac Interesting, mine 5050's beat others into a hat. 4w and with a 1/4 antenna the range is more than enough. Batteries, use your radio at 500mw and the batteries will remain charged longer. Seems you are unlucky, many others use them and they are working well. And remember, you are using them illegally and not for purpose.

  • Is the voice scrambler option available after modifying a "standard" radio or is it only available on the genuine export version from factory?

  • Indeed, mod the standard one and it becomes the export one from the factory. So, answer is yes

  • Hi, I have always loved walkie-talkies since I was a kid!!

Perhaps you or someone can really help me, over the years I have bought several walkie-talkies from Wal-mart, Motorolas, Unidens and other brands.

However, the box says they have up to 15 mile range but I can NEVER get any more than 1 mile out of them!!!!

    This is very frustrating!!!!!!

Is there anyone who can help me????

Can you suggest a brand that actually gets the range it CLAIMS!!??

    Thank you deeply!!

  • @simonthewizard ahh, thnaks, never saw that before..

  • @reyesito79 Yes Indeed, semi duplex operation is there too.
