  • How does it sound with a pick

  • @jimeerey I haven't tried it with a pick. I'm not a pick player. I have a few picks lying around somewhere, though. Playing with a pick versus playing with your fingers usually gives you more bite - a more aggressive sound, as the "attack" on the string is different. I figure it would have that same effect on this bass.

  • I'd rather have a Kala U-Bass

  • @3234718 I thought the same thing when I saw the U-Bass. The thing is, I don't think the U was around 2 years ago when I got this. If it was, I didn't know about it yet. Plus, this is cheaper than a U. Sucks to be poor. LOL!

  • Those are normal strings?

  • @GORFF987 No. They're specially made silicone rubber strings. They wouldn't work on any other bass. Well, maybe one with piezo pickups...I'm not too knowledgeable in the field of pickups and electronics. But, of course you need metal strings if your bass has regular (magnetic) pickups.

  • @hecbiz75 Oh man, the ubass is the greatest thing ever. I haven't really been playing my real basses lately.

  • @m776revenant The strings are made of silicone rubber. As such, they have a lot more 'give' than metal strings. I don't think that technique would be easy to achieve. Nothing's impossible with a LOT of practice, I guess. But it doesn't seem like it lends itself to that approach.

  • Hey man. Cool stuff, this sounds great. It puts out quite a bit on the low end. Have a couple of questions though. Hows the sustain on the thing? And I understand that picking style is not as good, but do you think I could get away with picking with my finger (I mean like shaping my finger like a pick and playing) and it turn out alright? Thanks and can't wait to hear back.

  • @DACHANCE28 It's just your usual gallopy metal riff. I use 3 fingers, which makes it easier. I don't think I can do a video soon. I got too much going on...recording my original songs in the studio, work, etc. Sorry!
