really well done..there's nothing wrong with being inspired by other works, or feeling like you want to recreate awesome art...now you can't really sell it but, the trial and error of making reflections or creating fur or whatever you do, will just in the long run make you a better artist every day.... if I'm bored, I find something really cool, and see if I can recreate it or put my own spin on it...it all goes into my original character design....and there's no better inspiration then Miyazaki

The only bad thing is that a lot of artists need other people to give them something/idea to draw, so I who owns that? I came from learning filmmaking and photography and came into pure illustrative art and the lack of ownership really scared the Hell out of me.

@classicasian When you have kids, 20% will be too much to save. :)

i have been listening to this podcast for the last few days. how on point and real this is...THANK YOU BOBBY for speaking from your HEART! you are inspiring people; especially and specifically ME (a 42 year old artist, working day and night to be liberated from my HR career, and begin to live my life off of my art).
ARTIST: THIS IS AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE!!!

We all need MSI (Multiple source income)
It's just so sad that schools just concentrate on art techniques but totally disregards the "business" side of the art industry. New grads only know so little about the business that they struggle thus the term "starving artist". I believe students like me must be aware of this!

Wow this is really a great video. I think you have a lot of good input for how to be a successful artist and I'm super inspired right now. Also great painting! (digital imaging, whatever people call it, it still takes pure skill and talent) Thanks Bobby!

is it really a painting when done on a computer or should it just be digital imaging

With an open image selected choose Window> Arrange> New Window (the original file name will be listed). The same image will now appear in a new second window.
Drag one of the windows out of the tab bar, and resize how you like it
