@crucisnh I think it is the arrangements done by Mack Wilberg. His music when he was the director of the BYU men's chorus is the same way (in fact, the arrangements are almost the same, they just added pieces for the orchestra) I think he was a terrible addition to the MoTab. All his pieces sound alike.
I love this song though since the music was written by an ancestor of mine.

The MTC sings wonderfully, but I really wish that they'd slow the tempo down. I've listened to a number of their sings posted here on YouTube, and almost every one of them is sung too quickly (as if they had a plane to catch or something).
