SCREW ATT! i recently got an email saying that they are going to threaten to raise the monthly by $10. We should ONLY HAVE TO PAY a FIXED amount monthly unless it's risen due to inflation. They do not want to compete so I will move my business elsewhere and leave them, I encourage everyone else to do the same. The FCC is garbage, they are one of the causes of ATT trying to monopolize the telecommunications market.

I don't know where you live, but maybe if it's a small town you could get the mayor to contact cityfibre holdings, or is it i3 group? They're a UK based company that builds out open access fiber networks, but not just in the UK.You should google them. They claim to have found ways to build out these networks for much cheaper. If they could deliver on what they say they're selling, symetrical gigabit per second fiber, open access for real competition, that would be just what we need.

@homoguy563 and anyting that hurts their investors makes the company change its policy. remember that public relations is a powerful thing, if enough people refuse to pay the overages the worst that could happen is a court battle. A court battle will never happen though because it would drag out all AT&T (or comcast w/e) network infrastructure and expenditure records which would cause them to lose any hope of winning. hence their only option is to concede to customer demands.

@homoguy563 yea i spent 6 hours on the phone chewing them out about the caps. Simply put you must understand that NO ONE and i mean NO ONE likes being told they can only use so much internet in a month they just dont know what to do about it. this is the answer: dont pay the overages, flood the call centers with complaints, insist that the caps be removed. This will work only if you spread the message and the tactic, it will effect their stock prices which hurts their investors... Cont.
The FCC has made it pretty clear they have know intention of making policies that encourage real competition.I feel you, man.Your best bet might be on a more local level. There are communities across the country that also got fed up and have built out there own municipal fiber networks, the best example being Chattanooga, TN.Other than that, I just don't know what else we can do.

@homoguy563 I did consider something like that or a wireless system which can be DIY however this is for the principal of the thing, they have no right to keep charging us so much for something that should be super cheap.

I like your moxy, but don't know how practical what you want to do is.I just got my first warning too.Unfortunately there's not much we can do.Complaining to them won't help because they don't care about their customers.I'd love to punish them by leaving them, but where am I going to go?Comcast, who also has a cap, is the only other option where I live and they're even more expensive.Complaning to the government is a waste of time because...

@homoguy563 and yes i know for a fact that this will work. I cant say much due to a non-disclosure contract I signed when i was working for an AT&T InBound/OutBound call center (fortunatly the info i cannot disclose does not prevent me from informing customers about their possible options/rights, i simply can not reveal certain high level operations to which the tactics pertain i.e. i can say to never hang up on the person when you call in, i just can't say why you should not hang up).

That sux so bad. I was watching 6 hours of Netflix every day and at the end of the month I hit 372 GB. I really believe they need to update the limit because a normal High Quality movie is already 4-5 GB in a few hours streaming.
This cap is silly. Truly.

@cyberhmoob All caps are silly. In fact there is no reason for the caps other than greed. I am a network engineer (ret) and i know for a fact that AT&T only has congestion due to their lack of network upgrades/updates, AT&T has not even started to consider IPV6 implementation and its almost december of 2011. not to mention my U-Verse is actually nothing but DSL (should be fiber) amped up from 6mbs to 12mbs (seriously it cost us $217 for a new modem and to add 100 gb to our limit).
