Menatone Shut Up & Drive! / Les Paul / Skylark Amp

Demoing the Menatone Shut Up And Drive overdrive / distortion pedal with an early Gibson Skylark GA-5 amp and Gibson Les Paul 1959 Reissue. Fun!

I use my guitar's volume pedal a lot in this video to get the most from the pedal. The SUAD really can perform two tasks: subtle overdrive and raging distortion IF you work the pedal AND your guitar.

The Menatone dirtboxes have a wonderful gritty texture to them, a tone I feel is unique to his line.

This Skylark GA-5 is an early Gibson all tube amp that really rocks. It sounds great live but excels as a recording amp. I used an MXL 990 condenser for this recording with virtually no set-up difficulties. I pointed the mic off axis to the center of the cone and rocked.

The volume and gain increases you hear without any pedal knob adjustments are me increasing my guitar's volume from 3 to 7. This pedal will work for lots of gigs, anything from slightly overdriven country to classic rock to heavy rock. Goose it with a compressor to get into heavy metal-like distortion and sustain.
