This documentary, produced for History Television, explores what it meant to be a member of the First Special Service Force, aka The Black Devils or The Devil's Brigade. A unique Special Forces unit in World War 2 that is the forerunner of some of today's Special Forces, this relatively small unit was comprised of both American and Canadian soldiers. Daring to Die tells the story of the Force and the toll exacted on this combat unit that never lost a battle, including the famous assault on Monte la Difensa, where they took in a single night a fortified mountain top position that had held out against the Allies for months.
