On my 421st jump I had my first reserve and two jumps later the second one on a borrowed rig.
First jump in a PF Phantom wingsuit. Container: Paratec Next; Mai: PD Sabre2 170sqft@1.3; Reserve: Paratec Speed 2000 170sqft
On deployment at short over 4,000ft the right brake fired and my risers twist behind my neck preventing me to look up.
The rigger is busy so the DZO lends me one of his personal rigs to jump with the next day. First jump is uneventful. Second jump I train to film with my camera wings.
Container: Vector3; Main: Spectre 150sqft@1.5; Reserve: PD 160R
After normal deployment (4,000ft) I pull the right toggle through the excess of the break line creating a knot.
I would have considered to land this configuration but thermals created gusty winds and I only had 3 landings on that canopy I decided to cutaway at short over 2,000ft.
For the reserve rides: I preferred the Speed 2000 to the PD reserve. The PDR was much easier to stall than the Paratec one.

At that time I never trained rear riser landings (changed that by now) and I flew a borrowed 7cell canopy (used to 9cells) in extremely turbulent conditions.
I would still not land a main with one brake line stuck on rears without cutting that steering line.

i didnt know you can use reserve on a Wingsuit . . .
Arent smaller canopys better to handle and they dont twist wires so much?
softilol 1 year ago
@softilol: Wingsuits are flown in both environments: BASE and skydiving. Skydiving rigs have reserves.
No, the smaller the canopy is, the more agressive and fast it flies. (like a plane with small wings must fly faster)
