Shelley is a British/Canadian community nurse who became homeless living on the streets in London following losing her job. Shelley is not a drug addict, alcoholic or suffering any addiction and because of this can't get the vital help she needs.

For homeless people without addictions, such as Shelley, it's difficult for them to find the vital help they need to get off the streets of London -- into suitable accommodation and work.

Is there more we can do for people like Shelly to get them off the streets faster since they don't have any addictions?

  • Nancy, we have nursing shortages in America. There are also nurses who can't get jobs because of the economy. It's not her fault she's homeless. Alot of foreign nurses are being trained here for free who can barely speak English and thus not practice safe nursing. Yet we have many native Americans who can't get into nursing programs because of the waiting list. They also can't get a job because there are not enough to go around. They alse fire people for BS reasons because of the economy.

  • She WAS a taxpayer you stupid prick. She was fired for some (probably) bullshit reason and she lost her home, you try living on the street and paying taxes. You'd be dead within a week.

  • @ANGELBLU2042 Well, if she is homeless...........erm, who is at fault then. She is an adult, it would be smart for her to learn from this little bump in the road. Yeah, try saving up a 6 month emergency fund for starters.

  • a hospital near me which I am not employed is firing their nurses why? nurses cost more than any other employee in the hospital. With the economic problem, even nurses are feeling the shortage problem. Degree people are homeless.

  • Just don't choose any job for now (meaning electronics co,or any big manufacturing job,)then once you get back on your feet, then slowly find a job related to your field.now this days is not the same like it used to be its very difficult to find a job now days, just take 1 step at the time.good luck.

  • @DetrivoreDesires .cant=can,t discgrace=disgrace limie=limy your=you,re..as in you are!! regards the fcking ..it was obviously written like that because some people avoid spelling it in case of being censored....america stays without the capitals because we hate you..now jog on and fuk off!!! or fuck off!!

  • You could always go home.

  • @mylifemyrants there are lots of people moving to London each year who actually do get a job and don't live on the streets.there are lots of homeless people in London and other big cities.I think she's been really unfortunate. It's not easy but if you are well perpared, have worked up some good relyable contacts, saved enough money to keep you with food and things you need for some time and start searching for jobs ,all this BEFORE you go there i think it should be easier.Don't be alarmed just yet.
