Dr. No-Thermal Pollution is Illogical ft IMP Oster

When I was young, it seemed the bay was so wonderful, a miracle, it was beautiful, magical.
And all the birds in the trees, well they'd be singing so happily, but they may not be for too long cuz their habitat may be gone.
Yo, it's not right what they're doing- this thermal pollution from these nuclear power plants-
It's downright illogical man
We gon' save the bay haters!

Yo they call me Dr. No and I got some bad news
cuz polluting power plants give me the chesapeak blues
Nuclear power plants use water as a coolant
but then they abuse it and discharge it as pollutant.
Thermal pollution degrades water quality
by heating up the H2O in the Chesapeake
There are many adverse ecological effects
Ima toss it up to IMP Oster to tell you bout them next.

Yo it's IMP Oster hey wassup hello
this thermal pollution? Dawg it's harshing my mellow
decreased dissolved oxygen makes it hard for fish to respire
and faster metabolic rate makes them easily tire
because of high enzyme activity
which can result in low biodiversity
see, organisms consume more food faster
which often leads to a food chain disaster
plant growth adds to oxygen starvation
when algal blooms cause eutrophication
anaerobic conditions in the benthic zone
allow bacteria populations become overgrown
I could ramble on for hours about thermal pollution
but this is how you can be part of the solution

You can write to your congressman to make your voice heard
or protest at a power plant to get out the word
there's a lot of simple fixes that your power plant can make
like getting rid of once through cooling that can heat up a whole lake
cooling ponds and towers can disperse waste heat
while cogeneration recycles it which is no easy feat
though this beat is hot the bay should be cool
you can help out or not so don't be a fool
you can change the situation even in a small way
so get out there nation and save the bay
