This is my first sprint triathlon. It took place summer 2006 in Harrison Mills, BC. My time was ok (I think I can do better this year) but I am very proud of crossing the finish line and am thankful for the wonderful experience the TRY-tri gave me.

  • I think you need a proper road bike to do well in biking, which I don't have. Did you ride one for your half-ironman? How did you do in the half-ironman? My weakness is swimming. I swam in the ocean today but I need to work on it still. I will work on this more this week with the hot weather. The sprint will be a lot easier than a half marathon and more fun/variety. I'm hoping to finish in 1:45-2:00. Your son will be like you! I had a son too and they are easier than girls! My son is active too.

  • @sassavs As for Harrison.. I did it many years ago now (4?). I'm much faster now but at the time I did was 65th at a time of 1:41. Not great but I merely wanted to finish, which I did! :) No tips other than that you should practise your transitions a bit. Also, the water entry point was rocky... so be prepared for a little feet discomfort! :) OH, and it's not really pancake flat!

  • @sassavs 10k runs make you stronger! Bet you feel great when you get home. I do think Biking is what wins the tri's but thats just me. Maybe it's because I find the bike the hardest.

It would be great if you do the half marathon! If you can do a sprint you can most certainly do a half marathon! :)

I had a boy. He's 8 months old now and full of life. :) I hope he stays fit & active like his mom.

  • @tamaraBrooks Training has been great. Hubby is killing me with 10 km runs every few days. I need to work on swimming/biking. My goal is to finish. My niece is doing it too and hubby might join us. He wants to do a half marathon with me and I'd like to do another sprint. Congratulations on your half ironman and baby! Is it your first baby? A boy or a girl? My granddaughter is 15 mos and the light of my life. How did you do in the race and which did you do? Any tips for the Harrison Mills race?

  • @sassavs That is FANTASTIC news!!! You will become a triathlete :)

I hope you enjoy the training as much as the event day. I went on to finally do a half ironman last year but have since had a baby and am having a year off but I'll be back to do more Tri's for sure!

  • I love this video and have watched it often for "tips". You've inspired me (a 45 year old grandmother and 15 year former couch potato up until last year) to do my first triathlon at Harrison Mills on March 17, 2010. Yikes!

  • LMAO
