I just saw Man of Steel on Friday and I can't even recall Hans Zimmerman's version of Supermans theme. Its forgettable and won't be remembered 10 years from now. When This theme came on during the original Superman I felt like something great was going to happen. It was a reflection of Superman's personality, Joyful, powerful, memorable. You're not going to be hearing kids humming Hans Zimmermans theme when changing into their Superman costume in a Phone Booth I guarantee it.

There were points in the score where I felt like it was going to build up and explode, but every time it happened, it didn't.

It's a shame, because had Williams score been used in the movie, I think it would have contrasted beautifully against the darker atmosphere. Imagine a low humming, brooding score as Zod destroys the planet and then that music starts to build up and Superman is revealed and begins to kick ass.

Are you really trying to convince someone that superman and Jurassic park's theme is similar?

Huh, Hans Zimmer is also repetitive. Sometimes, he composes great pieces. He was actually impressive on "Inception", "Rango" or "Pirates Of The Caribbean 2&3", but he's not always that great on other movies. In my opinion, his work on the Batman trilogy is really overrated.

Almost all of John Williams scores sound the same. Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Superman, even Jurassic Park all sound similar, granted they all are great themes.

Actually, is isn't. Everyone has the same right to have an opinion, and they are both great composers.

Indeed it did, and it was one of the best movie scores of all time for that reason. But that was a slow-paced movie with a lot of suspense and creeping threat. You hardly ever see the shark in Jaws. That music obviously wouldn't work if Jaws was an action film where people were getting eaten every other minute, and I don't know that it would have been possible to create as iconic a piece of music, It's all about suiting the music to the kind of film you want to make.
