------------------------------

I made this video to supplement an ebay auction of my old Hammond X5 organ & Leslie 825 speaker.

The music was inspired by a bumpy boat trip in Turkey and features improvisations to showcase the instrument.

  • Hello love the playing, wonder if you could help, whats the top price I should be paying for a Hammond X5 Portable Organ? Thanks Neil

  • @THEBLACKMARCS Thanks, I would join a couple of Hammond Forums and ask around. Mine went for around £500 including Leslie, cables and bass foot pedals if that helps.

  • Dumb question but, is the best way to record the Leslie via a microphone directly facing the speaker? Any tips for how to get a good recording in that way? I've only ever used line level recording for my Rhodes or synthesizers. Thanks,

    Matt

  • @fluent2332 that's actually a very good question. at the time i just used a single condenser mic as i primarily wanted to showcase the instrument making the sound (so i could sell it) rather than the sound. if i could go back in time (and i'm no expert) i would use 2 sm57's either side towards the top and a condenser for the bottom, so you can 'manage' the stereo - don't put your mics too close as they can be easily damaged by the strong magnetic fields
