Peter Amidon's original ballad, "The Children's Miracle," tells the true story of events in Birmingham, Alabama, leading up to and on May 2, 1963. Music, words, piano score and harmonization by Peter Amidon. Sung by Peter's 10-12's class and Mary Alice and Peter's harmony singing class at the Country Dance and Song Society's Pinewoods Family Week 2011. Mary Alice Amidon, banjo; Becky Tracy, fiddle; Peter Amidon, piano.

Peter gleaned the story told in his ballad from the book "Parting of the Waters" by Taylor Branch, and the film "The Children's March" by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Thanks to Martin Luther King and James Bevel for their vision and courage, and to the children of Birmingham for changing history.

You can see the lyrics and hear a studio recorded version of "The Children's Miracle" at http://www.amidonmusic.com/ChildrensMiracle

The arrangement (soloist, SATB chorus, piano) will be available soon for online purchase and download at http://www.amidonmusic.com/store/downloads.html

Filmed and edited by David Millstone.
