Actually a 12" red label Columbia 78 rpm single. Expensive in their day, retailing for $2 or more in 1945 (12"ers could capture almost 5 minutes; 10" limited to 3:40). Axel Stordahl's orchestra (FS's music director in the mid & late 40s). Great Columbia sound in that era, especially sessions recorded in the old Liederkranz Hall in NYC. Yank Lawson's trumpet featured, w/ Ken Lane Singers backup vocals. Very much of the "Frankie" era...sweet, high baritone, velvet string backdrop by Stordahl.

I have to admit, I'm a very long time fan of Sinatra and am more than familiar with "Stormy Weather". Just not Frank's take on the classic.
