The LA River was one of the original fresh water sources for residents of early Los Angeles! Now replaced by aqueducts delivering imported water, the cement lined river is now a flood channel carrying excess rainwater from local mountains and the LA area.
During the dry times of the year, the empty channel is used by media productions where cars can drive along without interruption since the public is not allowed, except for an upper portion where access for hikers is possible.

  • the most fake and pathetic river in the world

  • its just a bunch a dirty sewer water running threw Los Angeles and into the beach. i like the bike path and wide open space to workout/run very convenient when you just some fresh air or go for a walk!

  • @mrshizno91 if they removed the concrete then the river would return.

  • Its a shame that the river was basically turned into a massive storm drain, how cool would it had been if we would have had a free flowing river crossing los angeles!!!....we wouldnt have to make the two hour drive to asuza....

  • @blisters9 The L.A. River is a beautiful place.

  • the river was supposed to be the focal point and main attraction for LA when original planning took place for the entire basin in the late 19th century but sadly it was all scrapped when some idiot engineers got hard-ons for a giant elongated trapezoidal channel

  • Thanks for posting about our awesome river. Check out our new documentary film about the LA RIVER - called.... ROCK THE BOAT: There's A River in LA?! Visit our website at rocktheboatfilm (dot) com
