Have seen both versions and honestly I found the Japanese one a tad on the silly and cheesy side. The american one was a bit more on a serious note, nonetheless it wasn't all that good. The story could've been expanded way more. For me, neither one is superior to the other.

fuck american directors man.they ripped off EVERY classic horror film the japanese AND koreans came out with: one missed call, ringu, ju-on:the grudge , mirrors, and PLENTY other classics man.
