The extended dry spell left us with an extremely variable old snow surface that now has 10-16" of recent snow sitting on it. The most problematic is where the old snow surface consists of loose, sugary near surface facets - these were the slopes that were good skiing and riding during the dry spell. With more variability than usual, slope by slope assessment is critical.
