The bankers and the traders are camped out in my town

They haunt the empty houses from foreclosures all around

To dispossess the working class may hardly make a sound

But add up all the numbers and you'll see we're losing ground, so

Occupy a little piece of Wall St.

Occupy a peaceful city square

Just beyond our little demonstration

The traders try to strip the country bare

So stand up to the corporate domination

Before they plunder everybody's share

Together, We The People of this nation

Show the founding fathers that we care

The bankers and the traders are camped out on my block

Their presence goes un-noticed but they're here around the clock

Their foreign occupation tries to pillage all we've got

With their insecure securities and credit-default swaps, so

The bankers and the traders are camped out on my lawn

My home has dropped in value and now that money's gone

The kings play games on Wall St. to sacrifice the pawns

The banks evict our neighbors; the altercation's on.

  • Thanks a lot, David!

  • We who occupy thank you immensely!!!!!

  • Awesome song . . . thank you!

  • Nice song!

  • @nyplumma I'm sorry you took down your other post. It was helpful to me and would be to others. I am sure SOME have lost houses due to poor lending practices, this is a minority of the OWS crowd. Everywhere I look, I see peers with more house than they need, more toys (smartphone, cable tv, new cars, etc., etc.) than they can afford, credit card debt, etc. Very few live a life of financial wisdom that would help them weather unexpected crises. I am sorry for your situation.

  • Thank you, David, for this incredibly appropriate and true song. We will NOT lose any more ground. We have had enough.

  • @nyplumma I hate bailouts & mismanagement of our government, with jobs being shipped overseas, big CEO bonuses, etc., but I can confidently say I would not feel differently about it. If I overextended myself & lost my house because I lost my job, I would not blame someone else. I have walked this talk my whole life, starting with the choice of an UNsubsidized Stafford Loan when I put myself thru college. Some change is needed, but we don't need what we're seeing on the ground with OWS.

  • @jonahclaudiaisaiah I agree with you about the sham, but at least David is consistent in his message. He has more credibility supporting these yahoos than Russell Simmons, Michael Moore, Jay-Z & Beyonce......

He's wrong - but he's not a hypocrite like so many

  • David is my hero, but I am sad he got goaded into writing about this sham. We are the 53%.

  • Love this!
