I feel sad... Gene was an exceptional visionary, optimist and idealist who took his talents and shared with us his vision through Star Trek. Star Trek used to take sci-fi by the horns, and create a world we all would aspire to live in. Star Trek fans know exactly what I am talking about. I am sad because there are no science fiction shows on today, or in the last decade even, that come even close to the truely inspiring shows of Star Trek. Give me back my Star Trek!

20 years ago we lost one of the best minds in the universe. Someone who envisioned a better future and overcoming hardships by uniting different people and beliefs, prevailing over wars and exploring the limits of humanity. I will and many other people will miss you. RIP, Line long and Prosper \\\\////_

Stand up in what you believe in until logic or experience proves you wrong. Wise words Mr Rodenberry, RIP

Really he was more like an agnostic atheist humanist.

Thanks for everything, Mr. Roddenberry.

@nightmareofsolomon ~ vice versa ~ actually ~ U attackd my comment : / chck out Bread and Circuses ~ that episode doesn't seem anti-religious ~ by any stretch ~ & 2oo ~ w/ this segment ~ Gene mentions an interest in God ~ & spock being the pointy ear-ed devil (Rebellious/adventureous Gene)

@TJae1 Yeah, well, so do I. Like not being a dick to people that disagree with me. I still don't believe in God. One doesn't have to be religious to be a good person. Yes, he was raised a Southern Baptist, then later rejected religion for the irrationality and suffering it causes. He created Star Trek with a very atheistic and humanistic philosophy in mind. In fact, in Star Trek, the peaceful races had all evolved beyond superstition.

@nightmareofsolomon ~ Gene also entertained Christian ideas ~
was a Christian 2 at 1 pnt
When I feel really crappy about people and humankind in general, recordings of Gene Roddenberry always restore my faith.
