I owned this Astra model, even with the same engine and i have to say it was quite good, spacious car, but it was unreliable, really slow and it handled very bad. Now I have Corolla 1.6 from 1995 and I don't regret buying this car. Corolla is way better car-faster, nimbler, more fun to drive and the most important thing- much more reliable.

SLOW??? What are you talking about?? I eat a 1.5 l Civic (with 109hp) from 0-100.. You must have been owned one of the Polish versions.. I heard that the original, German made models were the best (in quality, reliability, and handling rust), than on 2.-nd place comes the Hungarian made models (like mine), than on the last place the Polish ones.. Maybe you should try and get a German import model..I suppose you would be more satisfied with it :-))

are you seriously bragging about your 1.6L being fast? how could you even deny the fact that its slow? im trying to think of a car that cant beat a 1.5L civic.... NOPE. can you even do 0-100 in under 10 secs? 20 sec quarter mile?

i own a stock 2.4L tC(with 160hp) and i still get beat all the time... and its no way near fast. therefore, your 1.6L is a joke as far as speed goes.

pal.. I guess my 1/4 mile 18,1 sec time (at Kunmadaras, Hungary) was not soo bad.. especially not bad with 170000km-s in the counter,and the car is FULLY stock.. NOTHING modified (yet).. and there is another thing! It has 100hp-s, 150nm of torque, and it only weights a ton.. no wonder it runs nice..

btw no one said, that a 1,5l 4door Civic can do 0-100 under 10secs.. id does it just around my does it.. so our little race depended only on driving skills.. and luck of course :)

what does "unreliable" means in this case? did it broke on the open road (left you there), or it had a few, little technical problems, (that doesent matter in daily use)? cuz i've been workin in an Opel service for a few months, and under theese months, i've learned, and seen many things, thats why im askin' ;) (btw: it is a combined Opel/Honda service, with 9 Opel stands, and one Honda stand) there were more "interesting" things, and faliures on that Honda stand, than on all the others....
