Also, handicap spaces are wider, so you can place a wheelchair by the car door. Usually it's impossible for a wheelchair user to get out of the car in a normal parking space.

Anyone who parks in a disabled space and isn't disabled is a scumbag. They need to be closer and they also need the wider spaces to maneuver their wheelchairs.

I am entitled to park in the disabled parking bays but I'm not actually in a wheelchair. Even I don't like parking in them as I think they are for wheelchair users more than they are for me. I caught a window washer using the handicapped parking for his van so he didn't have to walk the extra 20'. We had a nice argument. Apparently the business owner said he should park there for convenience. Some people just don't understand.

There is a phone app for reporting drivers without disabled parking permits - use it everyone, and please spread the word! Google parkingmobility for the link.

I am utterly baffled, even months later, to this exchange of comments between @mtkw08 and @Tat2Dragons over this post. This behavior and mindset @mtkw08 carries is the true disability of today's society, so perhaps @mtkw08 does have the right to park in these specific spots...
