  • The circuit board generates sine waves and cosine waves causing the motors to vibrate. The knobs control the frequency of the motor vibrations to vary the patterns. There are small sponges behind the mirror on each motor to limit how far they can turn. If you hook a little motor to your stereo or keyboard speaker wires the output will make them vibrate. The higher or lower the pitch will determine the rate of vibration.

  • the laser show looks awesome! What music are you using in the video?

  • From the movie The Island (2005)

  • The generator schematic came from a book called Gadgeteer's Goldmine by Gordon McComb. It has a number of experiments on stuff like lasers, tesla coils, piezo electrics, plasma globes etc. Sometimes you can find it on ebay.

  • Wow, nice job. You have a ton of patterns for only using two motors. Have you thought about adding a 3rd mirror on a servo that doesn't rotate but angle in and out to change the directon? good work.

  • Actually there is a third mirror installed. I hooked it up to a stereo a couple of times for patterns that dance to the music. Unfortunately, a 3D pattern on a 2D surface is sort of meaningless.

  • Nice Lissajous curves.

  • That is SO cool!

  • how do you control the motors?

  • I made a laser show like this. Used an amp from computer speakers as the driver and used 2 bridge rectifiers to make the motors turn in a single direction. The motor then vibrate/turn to the music. I only have a 7mw red laser so i cant project the show very far. I cant control the patterns either.

i saw that one of the comments mentioned using 3 motors. If you had smoke in the air would that allow for the show to be 3d?

  • its impressive, man... i watched it lots of times :D

  • hi im a lilltle bit new to elec tronics but i think i know wats goin on but could u send me a schemaic and som pics
