Shinzen talks about kriyas as a phenomena that can come up for some people during formal meditation. He describes the various kinds of kriyas from the most gentle to the most extreme. He answers the most common questions students ask him who are experiencing this phenomena: 1) Am I going crazy and is this safe? 2) Should I suppress or go with those movements? 3) Why is it happening ans what does this mean? Shinzen talks about how to optimally work with kriyas and goes on to say that it is important not to develop cravings and/or aversions with regard to them - whether experiencing them or not! Filmed at Mt. Carmel Spiritual Centre in Niagara Falls in May 2010.

Thank you for this informative video. After doing meditation with holosync I have been experiencing strong kriyas for the last ten months. There's a lot of stuff about kriyas on the web, I still wonder if kriyas is the same as kundalini awakening?
Is it possible that these kriyas happens without Kundalini awakening? How long does it usually take before the urge to let the energy flow out usually take? To be honest, I want to get this over with and continue on with my life.

Kriyas started happening to me yesterday so I'm really happy shinzen talks about everything that can happen. Since I do this without a teacher I probably would have thought I was getting seriously sick or about to go insane had I not seen this video before.

I'm so glad to see my experiences verified here... my kriyas were HARDCORE over the course of a number of years. they involved extreme shaking, involuntary sounds, and although I never vomited I almost did a few times. I also came close to embarrassing myself/confusing others in numerous social situations.
As a result of this my consciousness is purified and clear, more at peace with the world and receptive to new situations. The purification deepens each day. It was worth it.
