I remember the storm quite well. I was with my mom that night, in the Prince Edward Estates apartments on the Bedford Hwy. I woke up in the morning and thought I was late for school, then my mom said to look out the window. That was something else. Our friends on the top floor said the roof was about to come loose, their ceiling had broke in some areas. After that, we went to my dads, he was by Basin View, and his area was pretty bad, we lost about 6 trees, and our neighbour lost 12.
@Star1953 Lucky! We didn't have power for almost a week and no one helped us out until the day the power came back on. But true, the morning after Juan everyone in my neighborhood was out checking on each other.
My 1st born was a 7 month old baby when this hit and I remember the wind driving the rain into my windows. I checked on that little girl every 2 mins, so scared something would happen to my princess. Thankfully nothing happened, but that doesn't mean my heart didn't break for the people who had damaged homes and the people who died.
I remember all this like it was yesterday. I was only 7 then, but still. And I don't even live in the city, I live atleast 40 minutes away from Downtown Halifax. Everyday on my bus to school, when you look back in the woods, all you can see are trees that are still down. I remember there was no power for a week (in my area) either. it sucked when we got "White Jaun" that Winter, 50+ cm of snow that day (in my area). Better pray something like this doesn't happen again.
@muskielol Hey, jerk, you must not have been here when the hurricane hit or after!!!!! We were all "lost together" with no power, some homes lost and properties destroyed.
People who, before their freezer food went bad, all got "together" and cooked food on bbq's to feed those who had no food. So yes, we were "all lost together", helping one another in a time of serious need.
Don't put down what you never experienced! People in NS are wonderful and we all worked together to help each other.
Good video. I was living in NS when this storm went through. I remember goin to work in dartmouth the next morning to check on the dealership and going past mic mac mall the overhead sign was completly across the 5 lanes. It was pretty erie going past sackville and bedford and then through burnside and not seeing any lights at 4:30 am. Brings back some memories. Excelent song choice.
I was out in it! i lived in halifax and my parents owned a bussiness in dartmouth and we had to get there to make sure everything was okay
