Things you can do to reduce/prevent hair loss and the texture changes that make "crazy gastric bypass doll hair." Not putting doll hair down, I have a full head of it - just advice to make the most of it :)

  • Sally's Beauty Supply or other beaty supply stores carry the Nioxin or generic equivalent. That shampoo has worked good for me. I have had some loss but only a little more than normal. So, nothing alarming. I"m coming up on 5 mos post op.

  • (This is the problem with having a stylist as a very close friend!) Haha!

  • I have been using some super expensive stuff my stylist gave me by Redkin to stop hair loss. I was losing it even before surgery like crazy thanks to stress. It actually did stop the loss! But now I am looking at $50 for the set in liter bottles, and that is not even the extra foam that you are suppose to use! I am going with it one more time hoping to stall the loss as long as I can, but ouch! If I wondered at all if it actually worked I would NEVER spend that!

  • We all must remember that the hair we see is not living. I liken it to the wood on your deck; it used to be part of a living thing but is no longer. Like wood, we can apply products to make it look better. The follicle is living and nutrition does affect it and the hair that is produced (or not!).

  • @AwesomeForever No wonder you are awesome forever! :) Healthy is best, it is hard to learn and keep the balance. Hopefully the 1-year out person will not screw her system up (and give other wls peeps bad ideas). At one year, things do not bode well for her...

  • @MissJanieHere We went through this together, I remember all of your good advice :) I must try the mane and tail though, thanks for the reminder!

  • @AntoniaTakeTwo We are going to try our best! Hopefully we will be there for a full week so we can play in the Valley of Fire, go on the really long zip line, run around Hoover Dam, all the fun stuff :) PLUS THE SMELLING OF THE FRENCH ONION SOUP dinner with Dougie!
