Los Angeles MTA Metro Redline to Hollywood - Michael Jackson's Star of Fame

A special day on the train, almost a ghost town compared to normal work days. Most people were either downtown Los Angeles trying to get a view of Michael Jackson's memorial services (July 7, 2009) or stayed home to watch the event on TV. A small crowd filed by Jackson's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, ushers forcing a one-way march to prevent too much congestion in front of the Grauman's Chinese Theater. More footage of Michael Jackson's star of fame and other Hollywood scenes will be the subject of a separate short video. This is more about trains. The quickest way to the Grauman's Chinese Theater is to take the MTA Redline to the Hollywood - Highland stop. I got off at Hollywood - Vine in order to enjoy a scenic star-studded walk on Hollywood Bl, about a mile from Hollywood - Highland. The Metro Rapid Bus 780 also passes right in front of the theater, the closest exit being the Hollywood - Highland stop. This video also shows the view from the bus passing in front of Jackson's star. Other buses that pass this stretch of Hollywood Bl are the 212 and 217 which connect Hollywood with Glendale and Pasadena. I took the 780 to my final destination in West Hollywood and returned on the Metro Rapid Bus 704 to Sta Monica and Vermont. The video shows the rest of the trip on the Metro Redline from Sta Monica - Vermont to the final stop at Union Station.

@TrainSounds This was a local bus. There are several bus lines, local and rapid, that run on Hollywood Blvd in this area.

@lukebccb Thanks! We need to keep our cars clean in Los Angeles in order to increase ridership. In New York, the ridership is already high. Riders in NY need to protest to get the quality of service they deserve!

The $5.00 all-you-can-ride daily metro pass is a real bargain.

I was in LA on business recently, and took advantage of the bus/subway system to avoid traffic jams and high parking fees.

Seen here at 1:00 is a good view of the Hollywood Highland station. Anyone going to the American idol perfomaces, this is where they need to get off the Red Line and go up the escalator. The station also has an elevator as well.
