. . .and you sir are wrong wrong wrong. Aretha's voice masterful slides along every note of a D minor blue scales, and, for shear emotional effect responded to Smokey's rather "monotone" verse with another monotone verse on the A-note of that scale. Proving once again, why she was (and is) one of the greatest blues singers to bless a microphone. Now, when you can say YOU can do than any better, then maybe then you can criticize The Queen of Soul.

this is hilarious! why was Frankie Valli on stage? and Smokey's soft falsetto didn't stand a chance competing with the young queen's fierce vocals. she nearly knocks these two boys off stage with that voice. it's a great video.

@vinvid2u It was just a collaboration so they were able to get their music to audiences that they may never have bought their music. Also, keep in mind that Smokey Robinson and Aretha Franklin knew each other as Children back in 1946. Smokey was Best Friends with Aretha's Brother Cecil and he met her when she was around Three Years Old.

I love this they complement each other well.....smokey was so young and sweet.

I love the chemistry between Aretha and Smokey. In her biography, she talked about crushing on him. I love the way she sings to him, so convictive and genuine. The Queen. And Franky sucks.

Aretha and Smokey first met each other in 1946 gee3dee. Smokey was friends with Aretha's late brother Cecil and he remembered seeing her in The Music Room at the age of four playing Piano like a Veteran.
