Little River Band of Ottawa Indians have trap nets set in Lake Michigan off the shore of Manistee, MI. The sport fishermen claim the nets deplete stock of fish they try to catch and are taking the prime fishing spots. Fishing on 10/17/07.
This was their land and was taken from them. It is only right that they be given back rights to these fishing grounds. The tribe only got 1/3 of the land promised to them by the American Government. They have been fighting for a long time to get these rights and now people are complaining because it is hurting them. It sucks doesn't it?
hi, I'm from northern ontario and I"m also a commercial fisherman and was wondering where a person could buy a commercial trap net? I have been fishing gill nets for 20 yr and would like to try trap net.. I can't find anything about trap nets like where to but them or how to set them, the only thing I find is this video. can you help me?

Do you have any idea who ate the horses into extincton on this continent before the "white man" reintroduced them.
Do you know who it was that killed more of the bison than anyone else to diminish the herds? Thats right "The Proud Red Man" wake up and smell the coffee.
Aani! My fellow anishnabik brothers and sisters keep up the good work. When you are Native, you take only what you need...and no more. Good Day and God Bless!

The video did nothing to educate on either side of this issue.
