Slovakia's Peter Hrasko was assessed a further two-game suspension (three games in total) by the IIHF for his hit to the head and neck area on American forward Jerry D'Amigo.

In making his assessment, Marouelli analyzed the play on DVD. As well, he received a verbal report from the IIHF's medical staff and discussed the play with the referee supervisor and the chairman of the championship.

Hrasko deliberately targeted the head of the American player, using his elbow and upper arm to deliver the blow and causing D'Amigo to be thrown violently into the boards. As a result, D'Amigo struck his head against the glass, sustaining an injury.

The additional suspension was a direct result of Hrasko's targeting the head of his opponent on the play.

  • Oh come on.

In every different video, where I see someone getting crunched, it's full of comments like "KEEP YA HEAD UP BITCH", "In America u learn to keep ur head up".

Now that it's American, who has his head down (Lifts it just too late), everybody are like "Now that's a dirty hit omgomgomg".

  • @eAtte a) he left his feet, which is and illegal hit in all forms of hockey, b) he targeted the head with his elbow AND followed through which shows what his intentions were. In america you do learn to keep your head up because you will get absolutely rammed. watch his feet. its an illegal hit, look what happened to Ovechkin

  • elbow to face? :D american simulant number two :D that was shoulder = 2 minutes

  • @Camsk897 Yeah, but it's like that man, and i think it should be as well... i mean supporting your team -thing :). As you can see my example happened to be against Finland!

  • @eAtte haha i agree and im American. Ppl are so ignorant and when its for them they love it but against and their all up in arms. idc who the player is keep your head up. its just a law of hockey.

  • And come on, there's 40 people behind my back!

  • @Nalleble Well, in internet u always have to spice up your messages and make them little more edgy(?)... still i think my message is very clear :).

I'd say it isn't a clean tackle, but it isn't "vicious elbow to the head" neither... It's a hit to the head, but accidentaly. I've seen much worse... for example Dustin Browns hit to Jussi Jokinen IHWC 08 Finland vs USA

  • @eAtte I agree you but that was a clear hit to the head. See Hrasko's feet getting lifted as he jumps to make the tackle. Btw I'm from Finland, so don't flame :D

  • @kevster422 well its an american so everytime you have a chance you fuckin elbow them tto the face or try to injur them then you get popular in front of the whole world and everybody is happy.

  • poor american they cant even catch up with slovakia damn they sucks

  • He didn't even hit him with his shoulder and he left his feet. Watch after he hits him he lands back on his feet. So that's a charge added on to the elbow added on to the hit to the head.
