This song didn't get much recognition like Oh Happy Day, but this is one of my best songs of the Hawkins family. Sing yall!!!

In wasn't the Hawkins Singers version, but it was so very close - Homicide Life On The Street once used this song to cap an episode. Whatever choir did do it on the show approximated this performance splendidly and I was jumping up and down screaming to suddenly be encountering it. My first copy of this album I played till the spindle hole was worn white. I want this whole album played at my funeral when the time comes. That's going in my will.

This song is a treasure. I love the simplicity and "old timey" feeling that seems to attract the listener. It is also the one song my singers - back in 1993- blew out of the water, which included Charity, Marquetta, Jorel, Takela, Renata, Tara, and the lead...Tessa Baker! Thank you, Edwin, for your magnificent rearranging skills...and PurpleSnowman29 for posting.

there is so much pain and rejoicing in the voices of this group. God bless every Christian He has brought to the cross and made His own. Praise God, break my heart again for Your glory and Amen!

Oh my GOODNESS!!!! (tears flowing from eyes)
I haven't heard this song in about 15 years!!! The Old Union Gospel Choir in my hometown used to sing this song and then shout down the church afterwards! The ushers would be shouting too! GLORY!!! HALLELUJAH!!! MY LORD MY LORD!!!

I've always loved this version of this old hymn. This goes back to 1969 or so.

Yeah, you right hudson, i remember a lot of church choirs singing this song back in the days. This song was taken from the national baptist hymnal. I love this song too.
