  • Dan, what a big box you got there! Hope you have fun with you apple IIe with 64k of ram (lol), and with your Space Defender game. I can say: I use to play that years agot! :-)

    So vintage and retro.

    Thanks for sharing!!!!

PS: Is it possible to get this game somewhere?

    Cheers!!!

  • @MrLuisPrata Send me a 5.25 floppy and I will make you a copy.

  • wow thats so old!!!!1 great video :)

  • @tyreba Thanks

  • Aaah, I remember that "magic" piece of software that turned Basic into machine language; and all of the sudden things would speed up considerably. But the name..?!?..Was it called something like "Hayden Task Compiler"?...(I could very likely be rambling!)

  • @asgerms I believe the compiler was called "LISA". The game is 10X faster complied vs. BASIC.

  • Hard to believe that a small cell phone today has many many times more processing power then those old computers. Technology has evolved a lot over the years. Sadly, quality has not. That is a very well built machine to be able to still run after 30 years. I doubt you will see any modern day PC's lasting 30 years. Hell, it's hard to get them to last 5 years.

  • I believe it. A lot of quality games existed back then. These days, not so much.

  • i got mine for 40 dollars

  • i have one

  • Thanks for sharing this video. In Hong Kong, I had one pirated Apple II using tapes. Thousands of machines were sold during that time. Apple II could be easily copied with the same motherboard and case, but without Apple logo on the case. It was the time thousands of foreigners coming to Hong Kong and visited Golden Arcade where you could buy electronic products. Now the shops are selling genuine products. It was the first time I used a computer. It's fun and I learned a bit of Basic.

  • we had these in 1st grade 1987 I think

  • @TookMe20min2findThis Actually, you're wrong. Apple now has the app store for the iPhone and iPad, and people are again making games on their own , in their homes, and sometime becoming successful. As much as things change they stay the same. It's as if its all come around full circle. It seems your referring to blockbluster games, which are different and didnt even exist in the time of the Apple II.

  • That was the good old time where a single person in his basement could actually have fun creating games that could sell. Amazing, considering that nowadays it takes a load of specialists and millions of dollars to recreate that same fun.

Thanks for sharing and good job for the time.

  • iMac of 1983

  • wanna change your 2e with my iphone? :P
