WASSUP, fellow tubers!! Time for more of the good stuff. The year was 1982. E.T. was a box office smash, MTV was a year old, people just couldn't figure out that damn Rubik's Cube, headbands were cool, and the Pyramid returned to the television airwaves, not to mention returned back to its original home, CBS! Previously videotaping at New York's Ed Sullivan Theater during its initial run on the network from March 26, 1973 until March 29, 1974, and at the Elysee Theater (ABC TV Studio 15) from May 6, 1974 until September 1981, the show then uprooted for the West Coast, and began taping at the famous Studio 33 at CBS Television City in Hollywood, California. The title amount atop the show's iconic giant Pyramid remained steady at $25,000, and the show was billed as The $25,000 Pyramid. Although, from September 1974 to September 1979, a weekly, nighttime version of the series was produced while still in New York, also known as The $25,000 Pyramid. To avoid any confusion between the two, the new CBS revival was renamed The New $25,000 Pyramid from November 8, 1982 until January 28, 1985 when "New" was dropped from the title. The show ran on CBS Daytime from September 20, 1982 until New Year's Eve, 1987, when the show went on hiatus for thirteen weeks. However, due to popular viewer demand, the show was brought back briefly in 1988 until the new Family Feud starring Ray Combs debuted. Here's part one of an episode from Pyramid's comeback week of 9/20/82-9/24/82, with special guests Constance McCashin (from Knot's Landing), and Robert Mandan (from Soap, Private Benjamin, and Three's A Crowd). Enjoy, game headz!!

  • I think it's kind of funny that the male contestant described "coward" as "somebody who dodges bullets". Well, I must be a coward, too! lol

  • @DannyBkyn: Yeah, I thought that was kind of a stupid clue myself... lol. ;-)

  • they should have called it "NEW" from the beginning!

  • I know, right?

  • Did you happen to record ones from the 80s marathon last month? Thanks to "Ike" I lost my power during the Card Sharks part of the marathon, and had to miss 25k

  • I actually taped this in 2000. :) The '80s marathon didn't show this one, unfortunately.

  • I remember growing up with my grandparents watching this on the USA network... Bring back memories...

  • When this show was aired on CBS daytime, school lunch menu courtesy of the Glendora Distict: Hamburger-Cheese Slice, Lettuce,_Pickle_&_Tomato, Bush's BBQ Beans, Chilled Fruit Cup, Trail Mix.

  • The look on his face when he picks the 'pig" category is funny because he's a cop!

  • The show was aired Wednesday, September 22, 1982.

  • @DannyBkyn

Personally, I would use "somebody who dodges bullets" as a clue for "smart" not "coward."

  • The set is a lot darker than it was later.

  • They should've called it THE NEW $25,000 PYRAMID right away.

  • For $25,000, 60 Seconds on the Clock Please, Here is your First Subject and... GO!
