Chris this was a great review as always. I was upset by what Mel Gibson said about blacks, mexicans, and jews but I forgive him. I have friends from all races and faiths but if they heard some of the things said when I was angry they would swear I'm a racist! I hate how the media tries to decide whos good and whos not. Whos up and whos down. I agree with you, most of the people in media are envious of the people they cover. Sad.

But if anyone says something negative about jews all hell breaks loose. There have been lots of Jews in the business that have said negative things about blacks, and people of different faiths but you never hear about it. chris im sorry i love ur reviews but i almost considered unsubscribing for this. As a Jew I can't just forgive when one of he biggest actors of all time openly spreads antisemitic messages through his movie (passion) and his words bc RDJ asked us esp wen mel tried to blame it on conspirators and "edited" tapes/footage wen he directly outed jews!

Jesus was asked by the Apostle Peter, how many times is he required to forgive his brother. Jesus answered, "70 times 7." That's 490 times that we're told to forgive our brother. We're told to pray for our enemies, and do good to those who persecute and use us. BUT, it is everyone's right and duty to not endorse or financially support anyone who offends them, if they're a principled individual. If you do support the industry that Mel Gibson is a part of, then don't complain about his behavior.

The woman was not his wife. She was his mistress then she became his girlfriend after his real wife left him. And the girlfriend alleges that he knocked her front teeth out. He has never responded to those allegations, therefore there must be some truth to them. He is a violent homophobic anti semitic racist and he deserves his treatment.

In closing, Mel Gibson is an overly privileged ass hat. He is a buffoon of galactic proportions. His acting and a certain number of his films are vastly overrated.

Take The Passion Of The Christ. Here is a film which is at least loosely based on passion plays, which are theatrical devices that are definitely historically linked with antisemitism. There is just no arguing that fact. It's a fucking fact! Now, should I, as a moviegoer, just ignore the fact that Gibson's father is a holocaust denier? Should I simply forget that Gibson is a traditionalist Catholic? Should I just give Gibson the benefit of the doubt and judge the film on its merits alone?

Don't get me wrong. I'm not necessarily someone who will boycott his films, or even has strong feelings about the man either way. I fucking loved Apocolypto. Clearly the man knows how to make a good film. My only point is that I absolutely understand why someone WOULD boycott him. It's not as if it was only one, or even just a few incidents that brought him to this point. We're talking about a clearly traceable and repetitive record of despicable behavior here.

Gibson's tremendous capacity for egoism and arrogance, in his real life, are a matter of record. It may not be fair that he is scrutinized so closely by the media and the public, but the fact that his career has afforded him a life of complete and utter cloistered privilege more than makes up for that scrutiny (in my opinion). How much sympathy, much less forgiveness, are we to have for a man who was given everything and still acts like such a complete asshole?
