DDR Reunion
Fall, 2009
8 on the Break, New Jersey
Video footage from a DDR reunion that took place at 8 on the Break, Dunellen, NJ around the Fall of 2009. The reunion was a get together mainly for the DDR players from the 2001-2005 Era from the North East of America. The turnout was decent and everyone seemed to have a good time.
In this video, Angel (nickname Phataxel) Sarah (nickname ifightzrealwell), and other NYC former DDR players discuss their opinions (stress on the word "opinions") on how DDR was back in the day and how it compares to the community shifting to different playstyles and ITG.
Angel "Phataxel" was a former DDR tech player and freestyler who won 1st place in the 2006 Jacob Javits DDR @ NYC tournament for freestyle. He was arguably one of the best DDR players in the country around 2004, but rarely posted any of his scores online or shared any of his accomplishments with the community outside of training with Anthony, known by his nickname "Sketch" and Andre, known by his nickname "Jynx".
Sarah "ifightzrealwell" is a former DDR player from NYC. She is known by the other NYC players for being able to AA ten footers without the bar and pass them on shuffle options. At the height of her DDR playing days, Sarah was able to outplay 99% of the DDR community around her.
Joseph is Sketch's cousin and casually plays Stepmania.
The guy in the blue shirt (I couldn't hear what his name was) came along and spectated and was interviewed in regard to his later involvement in the DDR community.
I posted the video. I played DDR the years 2002-2005, and went by the nickname "Sketch". I retired after a national tournament at Jacob Javits Center in NY.
Please be considerate and intelligent when commenting. Keep in mind that time plays a huge factor in what and when people are considered good at something. I have alot of respect for the general DDR community (even a general respect for the ITG community) and in any conversation I gave credit when credit was due. I just wanted the same when I competed. Thanks.
fuck that. whoever says sketch is cocky is out of they're minds. Dude worked hard for his shit. And was prolly the best of 2004. People are fucking dumb man...
