I can't believe this was what my maternal grandpa had to suffer after The Fall of Saigon. I was born in South Vietnam 26 years after this civil war was forcibly ended and the communist government had taught me propaganda in school. Luckily, I was not so blind. Every history book regarding to Vietnam War was written differently from what exactly happened. They always call this tragic event "The Liberation of the South" with no record of "reeducation camps" or "Vietnamese refugees". What a shame.

Incredible movie. Painful, powerful, meaningful. Will never forget this movie, and the suffering of the people of Viet Nam. God help, God heal the broken families, the broken hearts of Viet Nam. God's blessings and eternal love to you, the people of Viet Nam. With prayers, from USA

My wife and I watched this movie last night and she cried. Her parents were the boat people and her aunt died from starving during the escape.
Very touching story.

@whatthephokingheo You're the one one who doesn't know what he's talking about.
North Vietnam received help from China and Russia because they knows it was necessary that time (if they want to to win the war). But no, they were not puppets, they were nationalist. Now, the "they" that I'm talking about is the "they" during Ho Chi Minh reign. After he dies though, is a different story.

@UDSS north vietnam was china and russia's puppet.......u obviously dont know shit...now fuck off....

@wakeupcoffeeandjuice yet you never mentioned a word of the Hue Massacre? And the raids today of the catholic church and buddhist church

South Vietnam was a puppet of America. A corrupt military dictatorship, who only survived thanks to billions of dollars. North Vietnam was no puppet, to no nation. They were nationalists and not really communist at all.
But that doesn't mean that the North was less brutal. The Stalinists of the Vietnamese ''Workers'' Party were very inhuman to their prisoners. I have no doubts that the concentrations camps were very hard en brutal. Stalinist Vietnam was in the end, just another dictatorship.
Yeah.. when I watched this movie.. it made me cry. My family was one of those ppl who had to go on boat.. and wut happened on there.. was all... true.

For all you people who believe U.S shouldn't have gotten involved in Vietnam here's a thought:
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing"
