"Spruce Meadows invites fans of the great champion Hickstead to pay tribute to the recently departed stallion at Spruce Meadows beginning Tuesday, November 8th through November 13, 2011. Further information can be found at http://www.sprucemeadows.com/container.jsp?id=68 "

I was choked and shocked when I heard the news this morning of Hickstead's sudden passing. I'm not a fan of tribute videos. That said, Eric Lamaze and Hickstead have been HUGE for Canadian equestrian and I am really shocked by the news... I was never swept away with the "Lamazing" movement some of my fellow riders were but I always respected Eric and his horse. They were a joy to watch. You could always anticipate a good ride when they entered the Spruce International Ring. I met Eric at Spruce during a competition and can honestly say he's a very nice person and my best wishes go to him and Hickstead's whole team. I've experienced only mild equine hardship in comparison and know how difficult that was for me so my heart really goes out to them. I do not own the music or any of the clips. Sad day for Canada.

  • Thanks SixxBar. This is really well done and a fitting tribute to a great team. Saw them many times in Calgary at Spruce Meadows

  • @petercarey00 Thanks for the positivity. Selfishly, I mostly made this to make myself feel better haha. I'm very glad it has been good for others as well.

  • Beautiful horse, beautiful legacy, beautiful video...<3

  • Hickstead you were a true champion and saved eric in his dark times and made him what he is today! You shall be missed but RIP

  • Hickstead was a beautiful and amazing horse, truly a Canadian hero. My sympathies to Lamaze and the rest of Hickstead's team. Thank you for posting the tribute instead of another video of the tragedy. Watching those dredged up the same emotions I had the day of the "great match race" and saw Ruffian go down. I haven't watched racing since and, due to the tragic death of this great jumper, expect it will be a long time before I again attend any events at Spruce Meadows.

  • Ces magnifique de les voir évolué.

  • Surely one of the best ever... Good Bye Champion ! We will miss you...

  • You will be loved and missed forever ♥

  • Holy shit he jumps higher than Epona!
