I did this all of the time when I was a kid and played this. I'd go to the Privateer's Hold, go north until I reached the ocean, went back, and repeated until my wagon was full. I didn't do this until level 6 though, because Dragonlings are tough at low levels and levels 9-11 mages pretty much insta-kill you without some form of Spell Absorb/Reflect. Now I abuse Sentinel castle's main lobbies 5 Knights, re-entering after looting them.

You have problems with a HARPY!? *sigh* Not to be mean, but let me point out something. Filling out your background let's you get some good equip, better stats, reputation, and skills. When one of the questions ask what you'd want for a reward, or give you 200 gold and ask what you do with it, say "an Ebony Dagger" or "Buy an Ebony Dagger" Ebony affects everything, an ebony dagger gives 9 to 14 damage, so it works against everything, and you always do fair enough damage.

I was riding across the wrothgarians in realtime once with the dosbox auto-walk glitch and I kept dying... because centaurs would attack me while I was in another program! So now I make sure I LISTEN while I multitask

It's kinda funny, because while you can rest and encounter monsters, those same monsters can find you without resting, if you stay in the same area. I left my computer on, and i came back and was getting killed by enemies. I tested it several times, and it seems to work. But, not many people are gonna want to wait in one place a couple of ingame hours when they can just rest.
