The Pharm-Assist is a fully automated, easily customizable weekly medication dispenser intended for individuals with numerous medications to be taken. It has 4 hoppers (1 type of medication per hopper), a watchdog LED, operating LED, and a momentary NO switch. When the switch is closed the operating LED runs along with the program. The hoppers have a built in rotary feed mechanism similar to what can be found in a gum ball machine. The hoppers are split into pairs, each pair being operated by a unipolar stepper motor. The load and dispense points on the feed mechanisms in a pair are offset by 66* so that one motor can run two hoppers. When the motor spins 66* clockwise the feed mechanism is loaded, and then it rotates 66* counter clockwise to dispenses it. To dispense the other medication the rotational directions are in opposite orders. This reduces the cost of assembly and the number of motors that could fail. The horizontal movement of the pill box is also controlled by a unipolar stepper motor. The motor operates a belts system, upon which the pill box base is mounted. This allows very accurate movement from day to day, so that no pill can be dispensed to the wrong day. All components are operated through the use of a BS2 microcontroller.
This is the idea that I'm looking for. I need to dispense 7 different pills/caps into a Similar holder. I see that the "pills" here look like gum balls.
Is there a device like this out there for home use,
that would dispense med's of different shaped and sizes?
Thank you,
