11. Robam Kuos Tralork (Coconut Shell Dance)
Originating from Svay Rieng Province, this dance was inspired from a coconut shell game previously played in wedding ceremonies. Popular and loved by Cambodian people, it is highly rhythmical and punctuated with shouts and the rapping of coconuts, expressing happiness and harmony in life.
Directed and supervised by Mr. Chheng Phon, the dance was placed into the curriculum of the Royal University of Fine Arts in 1966, and continues to be widely performed today.
