New iPad Sky Gamblers Air Supremacy gameplay. With the new A5 chip and quadcore graphics, gaming is set to see a huge improvement in the new iPad 2012. Here's a quick look at one of the launch games: Sky Gamblers Air Supremacy.
Apple has officially unveiled its third-generation tablet device bringing an end to months of rumour and speculation in outing the Apple iPad 3 release.

The latest in a line of market dominating iOS powered tablet devices, the iPad 3 has been officially revealed as a direct 9.7-inch replacement to the hugely successful iPad 2 with the new must have device to hit stores in a matter of days.

Stating that "Apple has its feet firmly planted in the post-PC future," Apple CEO Tim Cook unveiled the iPad 3 describing the company's tablets as devices that are "reinventing portable computing and outstripping the wildest of predictions."

Apple iPad 3 Specs

Originally believed to be heading to the iPad 2 and by far the most rumoured spec inclusion for the company's latest tablet offering, Apple has revealed the iPad 3 will land boasting an iPhone 4S esque Retina display with the 9.7-inch screen to boast an impressive 2048 x 1536p resolution and 264 pixels-per inch.

Further bolstering the tablet's impressive array of new specs, Apple has revealed that the iPad 3 will land with an A5X quad-core processor. Improving the tablet's camera options, the iPad 3 will play host to an iSight camera capable of Full HD 1080p video recording capabilities with video stabilisation and noise reduction features as standard.

Whilst not featuring the company's iPhone 4S exclusive voice commanded personal assistant Siri has not made the jump to the iPad 3, the tablet will play host to voice dictation features allowing users to seamlessly transcribe letters at will. For US users the tablet will also play host to 4G LTE connectivity options.

Fulfilling a flurry of rumours, the iPad 3 will land almost 1mm thicker than its predecessor lining up at 9.4mm thick and 1.4lbs (635g) in weight.

Apple iPad 3 UK Release Date

Following the trend set by last year's iPad 2 launch and living up to a number of rumours, Apple has revealed that the eagerly awaited iPad 3 UK release date will take place in just nine days time with the next-gen tablet to hit stores in the UK on Friday March 16th.

With iPad 3 pre-orders opening via the official Apple online store now, the third-generation tablet will touch down the same day the Cupertino based company officially opens new retail stores in Houston, Texas and London's iconic department store Harrods.

Apple iPad 3 Price

With the long awaited new Apple iPad 3 now a thing of reality following its official unveiling, Apple has revealed the tablet will follow the pricing structure of its predecessor with new iPad 3 prices to start from just £399.

Despite a number of pre-release rumours suggesting the inclusion of a 9.7-inch Retina display would see the market leading tablet follow-on land as much as £50 more expensive than its predecessor, Apple has officially revealed it will maintain the pricing plans set out by the formerly dominant iPad 2.

Kicking off with the 16GB Wi-Fi only model, those looking to snap up the third-generation iOS tablet will need to part with £399 with those requiring 32GB or 64GB of internal storage having to splurge £479 or £559 respectively.

On the Wi-Fi + 3G front, wannabe iPad 3 owners looking to access the web at will need to part with £499, £579 or £659 depending on their choice of 16GB, 32GB or 64GB storage options.

What do you make of the newly unveiled Apple iPad 3? Will you be snapping one up when it lands in the UK on Friday March 16th? Let us know via the T3 Twitter and Facebook feeds.

hardware specs stopped mattering 5-6 years ago. it's all about user experience now. if you're still hung up on processor speed or memory, you've either fallen behind or are missing the point.

you're right - we haven't yet reached the tech level where a device is totally ubiquitous in our daily lives. things like reception and battery power still matter, but soon even they will be a thing of the past, and all that will mater will be user experience.

video isn't exactly based on skill, but then again I'm not expecting a person who spells letters wrong like some 13 year old try hard school kid to get the point of a "Demonstration" video

Ya, who needs more power than is required to play tetris, right? 640k is enough for anybody. There is no user experience without CPU, and memory speed. Its always going to be important. I sure dont want to play on a 5-6 year old machine as you suggest. YOUR the one with the 5-6 year old machine, and you cant sleep at night.

This would be obvious to most people, but I made my comment in the context of this video, which was about mobile gaming - not PC gaming. I've been custom building my own PC gaming rigs for over a decade from scratch. Keep in mind that we're a minority. The vast majority of people don't want to, and shouldn't NEED to, care about hardware specs. They just want to get on with their lives and not worry about what CPU they need to run an app.

You're an arrogant fool. Of course hardware still matters.. well to mobile phone gamers and console gamers, it probably wouldn't.. but to us PC gamers, it definitely does. I'm not starting a nerd war or whatever, I'm just simply pointing out the fact that the way you stated your opinion, it's like you think almost all the gamers in the world share the same interests and views as you, which is very biased and misleading.
