The often stressful and frustrating task of parallel parking soon will be as easy as pressing a button for owners of the Lincoln MKS flagship sedan and all-new Lincoln MKT seven-passenger luxury crossover, thanks to an exclusive new technology from Ford Motor Company called Active Park Assist. Available in mid-2009 as an option on the 2010 Lincoln MKS sedan and new Lincoln MKT crossover, Active Park Assist uses an ultrasonic-based sensing system and Electric Power Assisted Steering (EPAS) to position the vehicle for parallel parking, calculate the optimal steering angle and quickly steer the vehicle into a parking spot.

Horrible idea. Do something for someone and they will never learn to do it themselves. Everyone use to drive stick, and now that gear shifts happen automatically, quite a few people have no idea how to drive them. I imagine the same thing will occur with this if it becomes popular.

@leppie777 I am all for making life easier but driving shouldn't be made easy. People need to think when they are driving and equire the skills to do so safely. Cars are weapons. All this techno stuff takes away from the skills that the driver should have. What happens if this techno stuff malfunctions?? Can't park your car now?? Let's face the fact that there are alot of bad drivers out there already. Stuff like this just promtes bad drivers.

Stress??? Learn to drive. If you can't park a car you really shouldn't be driving. Welcome to the age of lazy driving. Technology making up for human short comings. Park assist and even reverse sensors on the Mini Cooper. Wow!
