Both debate participants field and answer questions about the political implication of direct filing juveniles as adults. District Attorney Don Quick feels that his political liability lies in not direct filing kids more than he does. Kim Dvorchak thinks there is tremendous community pressure on DAs in direct file decisions that wouldn't be prevalent for judges. Quick doesn't care to speculate about the motives of organizations like StopDirectFile.org, but notes that many people he's spoken with on the issue would rather that adult charges not be filed on kids. Kim Dvorchak feels that discussions about how to charge juveniles belongs in a court. She notes that she is forced, by the current law, to beg DAs for mercy.

  • @DMMPELLETIER Couldn't agree more.

  • Children are NOT adults... and YOU know this! Political Gain certainly is NOT the only reason, let's not forget the Convict mentality, The sport of the narcissitic game to name a few.
